In January, our members had the opportunity to learn about the origins of New Enchantment by viewing a video recording of a lecture presented by Jeffrey Bronfman, who is an integral part of the organization’s foundation.

floridaOur global activity day, was in March where the New Enchantment and Novo Encanto members from around the globe joined together to do something in their local communities to benefit society and nature. Members in Florida brought awareness to the importance of exercise and spending time outside, in nature, and took time to pick up trash as a part of a local beach cleaning movement. Adults and children participated together on this special day. Members got together to celebrate Earth Day in April and to learn about environmental awareness. This activity was specifically geared towards children and included games and a puppet show.

In August, members visited Florida’s largest Live Oak tree, which is over 85 feet tall. After learning about the tree , members enjoyed a picnic breakfast under the shade of the oak, ensuring to reuse, recycle or compost all the waste generated from the meal. florida2In September, members will enjoy the Ichetucknee Springs state park, which is the home of Florida’s most pristine body of fresh water. Members will have the opportunity to walk, swim, dive and float down a spring fed lazy river. This will be Florida New Enchantment members’ 2nd annual Labor Day weekend trip to Ichetucknee Springs. florida3An additional activity will also be planned in the month of October, in an effort to promote 2013 membership registration for New Enchantment.
